PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for controlling a photoisomerization reaction of a π-electron conjugated molecule, capable of easily conducting selective synthesis of a cis isomer which is indispensable for investigating physiological activity due to a photochemical reaction in vivo, detecting new physiological action, etc., by overcoming limitations and problems of conventional photoreaction methods by one-photon excitation, and to provide a method for selectively synthesizing a photoisomerization reaction product by utilizing the new method.;SOLUTION: In this method for controlling the photoreaction by two-photon excitation, the two-photon excitation is conducted by irradiating a pulse-laser beam onto the π-electron conjugated molecule so that the cis-trans photoisomerization reaction is controlled.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
