PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling structure of optical modulation device which efficiently cools a polarizing plate, the optical modulation device and so on. SOLUTION: A supporting member 311 which supports liquid crystal panels 441R, 441G and 441B is arranged in parallel to flow passages of cooling air which are formed between the light incident end face of cross dichroic prism 45 and the respective liquid crystal panels 441R, 441G and 441B and is constituted with a pair of members which support the vicinity of end parts of the liquid crystal panels 441R, 441G and 441B. The gaps between the light incident end face of cross dichroic prism 45 which faces the flow passage of cooling air and the respective liquid crystal panels 441R, 441G and 441B can be enlarged. As a result, the cooling air which is sufficient for cooling the polarizing plate 446, the liquid crystal panels 441R, 441G and 441B and so on is allowed to flow in the direction of cooling passage and, thereby, the polarizing plate 446, the liquid crystal panels 441R, 441G and 441B and so on can be efficiently cooled.
