PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling structure of an optical modulation device capable of efficiently cooling a polarizing plate, an optical modulation device or the like. A gap between the incident end face of the cross dichroic prism 45, facing the flow path of cooling air, and each liquid crystal panel 441R, 441G, 441B can be increased, and thus cooling air enough to cool the liquid crystal panel 441R, 441G, 441B or the like can be passed through in the flow direction, so that the polarizing plate 446 and the liquid crystal panels 441R, 441G, 441B or the like can efficiently be cooled.
