ACTIVE USE OF PLANT STEM AND LEAF AS UNUSED RESOURCES, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE PLANT STEM AND LEAF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use stem and leaf of Curcuma domestica of a plant of the genus Curcuma as unused resources containing a large amount of useful components expected to have an antioxidative function and a pharmacological effect and to obtain a raw material for a medicine, a quasi medicine and a health food for a specific health insurance, or the like, from the purified substance of the stem and leaf.;SOLUTION: Currently, stem and leaf of plant Curcuma domestica is allowed to stand up to a harvesting time and is dumped at the time of harvesting of rhizome. The stem and leaf contains a large amount of useful components expected to have a pharmacological effect, needless to say, an antioxidative function so that the unused resources are effectively used by this invention. Since the stem and leaf as raw materials are harvested plural times a year, the optimum harvesting time for minimizing the influence on the reproduction of the stem and leaf is elucidated, and the stem and leaf are harvested. The stem and leaf have the mutually same components in offensive smell, sharp taste, bitterness, or the like, a those of rhizome. The objective product is obtained by processes such as vacuum drying, low- temperature sterilization, or the like, including a continuous fermentation with plural bacteria, as a method for deodorization, removal and reduction in the components and increasing the additional value of the contained components.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
