METHOD FOR ESTIMATION AND INSPECTION OF REMAINING DEFECT ON HEAVY PLATE PRODUCT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save labor for inspection, estimating location of remaining defects in the periphery of a rolled steel plate.;SOLUTION: By installing a plane shape meter above a heavy steel plate after rolling, based on the plane shape of the heavy steel plate measured by the plane shape meter and information on predetermined allocation of plate products to the rolled steel plate, cutting lines are decided to cut off excess portions in the periphery of the rolled steel plate. Furthermore, locations of defects occurring at the periphery of the steel plate are estimated based on a lengthwise elongation ratio and widthwise elongation ratio during rolling of the steel plate. An estimation method for remaining defects on the heavy plate is comprised of the comparison of the estimated location of defects in the periphery of the plate with the cutting lines decided as above, and determination whether the defects locations are cut off or remain in the product. An inspection method for remaining defects detects the presence of the deffects by suspending transfer of the plate in which defective locations are estimated to remain in the product without being cut off.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
