PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking controller of electropneumatic brake type electric rolling stock capable of properly releasing a pneumatic braking force and an electric braking force when the rolling stock comes into a skidding state, and a method of controlling the braking of the electropneumatic brake type electric rolling stock. SOLUTION: A device for controlling the braking of the electric rolling stock comprises a main control part to detect the skidding or re-sticking state of wheels. When detecting the skidding, first the device preferentially releases a pneumatic braking force 221. If the skidding state is continued even after the pneumatic braking force 221 becomes zero, the device is so controlled in accordance with a braking force associated-releasing procedure that an electric braking force 231 is released. When a re-sticking is detected, the device is so controlled that the releasing of the pneumatic braking force 221 and the releasing of the electric braking force 231 are stopped simultaneously and the braking state is returned to the original state.
