PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake control device for an electropneumatic brake type electric rolling stock and a method of controlling a brake therefor, which can be rapidly returned into an adhesively running condition even from a slipping condition. ;SOLUTION: A rotational speed sensor 8 and a main control part 3 detect whether a wheel 7 slips or not, and an air pressure sensor 19 and the main control part 3 detect a pneumatic brake force while an inverter 12a delivers an electric brake enable signal which indicates that electric braking is effective. If the electric brake enable signal is delivered while occurrence of slipping is detected, the main control part 3 controls an air brake device B1 in order to prevent the air brake force from being assisted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
