PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of evaluating the traveling dynamics demand of a driver relating to the driving strategy of an automatic or automated transmission.;SOLUTION: An accelerator pedal stroke is calculated on the basis of the acceleration pedaling operation to be sent to the driving strategy as an input signal equivalent to the traveling dynamics demand. The raw value of an accelerator pedal stroke is calculated on the basis of values of the accelerator pedal having a fixed ratio depending on even to each other, in particular, by subtracting an accelerator pedal position in starting the acceleration pedaling motion from an actual acceleration petal position. The accelerator pedal stroke can be obtained by an event dependant filtering process of the raw value of the accelerator pedal stroke, and after the termination of the acceleration pedaling motion, the filtering function is started to attenuate the raw value of the accelerator petal stroke at that time through the presettable time function, in particular, when the accelerator pedal position is approximately constant at least over a presettable time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
