PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover a metal of a product and a waste at a low power consumption and to enhance an economical efficiency in a separation of gadolinium isotopes by an atomic laser method.;SOLUTION: An alloy of gadolinium and copper is used as a raw material metal and this raw material metal is heated and evaporated in a crucible 4. A laser light 15 having a plurality of wave-length is irradiated to a metal steam atomic beam 11 obtained by the evaporation and a specific gadolinium isotope is excited to be ionized. An ionized ion and a partial neutral atom are recovered by a heated ion capturing electrode plate 13 to which an electric field is applied. After the alloy of concentrated gadolinium and copper thus obtained is recovered in a liquid state, the concentrated gadolinium is separated and recovered as a product by a chemical separation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
