PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize satisfactory servo adjustment by enabling prompt and exact detection of an optimal coefficient to decide servo characteristics.;SOLUTION: A jitter measuring part 74 measures a jitter value of an RF signal from optical pickup 53 and simultaneously decides the lowest jitter value from the respective jitter values according to successively changed boost values in the case of RF compensation. A servo characteristic setting part 76 successively changes the boost values, simultaneously sets a jitter threshold by multiplying the lowest jitter value by prescribed ratio, calculates first and second boost values corresponding to two jitter values to be roughly equal to the jitter threshold and sets the optimal boost value based on the first and second boost values.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
