PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal computer, an abnormality detecting method therefor and a recording medium having the method recorded thereon by which an abnormality in the data collection of a host computer can be easily detected.;SOLUTION: This method has a first check means 44 for periodically receiving a plant measuring data file 22 from a host computer 22, calculating the collection cycle of measurement data and deciding the presence of abnormality in the data collection when the collection time interval of each of measurement data in the measuring data file does not exist within the range of the error of the calculated collection cycle, and a second check means 45 for periodically receiving the measurement data file from the host computer, storing the received measurement data file as a plant measurement data file 43 received the last time, comparing the number of data in the last received plant measurement data file 43 with the number of data in the latest measurement data file 42 every time the latest measurement data file is received and deciding the presence of an abnormality in the data collection when these numbers are not mutually coincident.
