METHOD AND INSTRUMENT FOR MEASURING DISCREPANCY IN BUTT WELD ZONE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measures discrepancy of a butt weld zone of a steel material with curvature such as a steel pipe similarly, without labor hours in addition to a butt weld zone of a flat plate, H-shaped steel, or a box column, and to obtain measured values of high precision.;SOLUTION: A hand carriage 2 with wheels 5 is brought into contact with the top surface of one but-welded member 21 and a distance sensor 4 mounted atop an arm 3, extending from the carriage 2 to the other member 22 measures the surface height of the other member 22. Surface height information on the other member 22, which is measured, is inputted to an arithmetic means and the difference from the surface height of the former member 21, so that the wheels 5 of the carriage 2 come into contact is computed to find the quantity of the discrepancy between the surface positions of both the members 21 and 22.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
