The foldable bicycle (1) comprises a frame (2) formed by a main frame (3) and a sub-frame (4). A tube (6) projects from the hollow tube main frame for handlebars and a further tube (8) for the saddle (9). The front wheel (10) is fitted on the main frame, whilst the rear wheel (11) is fitted on the sub-frame. The sub-frame is pivotable around a hinge, which forms the connection between the main and sub-frames. The pedals (12) and the drive mechanism (13) are fitted to the sub-frame, so that a chain (14) of the drive mechanism remains under tension. When folded, the saddle tube is pushed downwards and the sub-frame is pivoted around its hinge. The saddle tube fulfils a blocking function, preventing the bicycle from being folded outwards.
