The closed device for heating particularly water comprises a heating boiler, internal combustion engine of a heat power coupling unit, fuel cells or solar panels, with heat fed to water flowing in a circuit (18,19) containing radiators and/or convectors for emission of heat to rooms. An expansion of water reservoir (11) is incorporated in which an extra volume of water can be accommodated arising from the heating process. When the water in the circuit cools, water flows back into the circuit from the reservoir to compensate for the cooling process. In a further version, very large expansion or heat buffer reservoirs can be employed, particularly in glasshouse installations.
