Production of powder lacquer based on acrylate copolymers (I) containing glycidyl ether comprises (1) preparing a hydroxy-functional acrylate copolymer (II) by free radical polymerisation; (2) converting (II) to (I) by reaction with epihaloalkane; (3) conversion to powder lacquer by coextrusion with aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic polybasic acid and/or anhydride or polyol-modified polybasic anhydride and/or amorphous or semicrystalline carboxy-functional copolyester resin and/or carboxy-functional acrylate resin and optionally additional pigments, fillers and/or additives. Also claimed is the powder lacquer per se.
