(57) Abstract A method of determining thecoordinates of feature points on the surface of an objectfrom as few as one digital image generated by as fewas a single 2-D sensor such as a camera is disclosed.At least three non-colinear points are detected amongthe images to generate at least three non-parallel 3-Dlines. The pose of the surface is determined fromthese 3-D lines and a set of corresponding points onan ideal object. The points on the ideal object aretransformed close to the 3-D lines in a least squaresprocess. The other feature points on the surface canthen be calculated by the intersections of the 3-D lines,generated from the detected feature points, with thesurface at the pose determined above. The coordinatesdetermined for these feature points are used in CRTmeasurements for picture geometry fine-tuning.
