The system proposes the installation of pipelines or watermains approximately three feet in diameter laid down on the bedof a river and extending from its upper reaches to its mouth,which would be tapped to provide water to municipalites alongits banks free from pollution by agricultural run-off, indus-trial discharges and municipal sewage.For reasons disclosed in the specification, the water wouldbe under high pressure and could also be directed through tur-bines for the generation of electricity.
