The present invention relates to a composition for a urea breath test (UBT). In particular, the invention is directed to a composition used for detecting Helicobacter pylori infection in the human body comprising a low-enriched 13C-labelled urea. Furthermore, the invention provides a kit for diagnosing Helicobacter pylori infection comprising the composition and an appropriate receptor for collecting exhaled breath. According to the present invention, the Helicobacter pylori infection can be diagnosed by using a composition comprising a low-enriched 13C-labelled urea to provide a highly cost-effective urea breath test that offers both high sensitivity and specificity.
