Chiral catalysts containing a dimetal center bridged with one or more chiral ligands provide enantioselective reactivity. The bridging ligands are carboxamidates based on azetidinones, pyrrolidinones, oxazolidinones, and imidazolidinones. The ligands contain a first chiral center on a carbon bonded to the nitrogen atom. Additional centers of chirality can be added to the catalyst complexes to provide even greater enantioselectivity. The catalyst complexes are employed in Diels-Alder and addition reactions.
