PURPOSE: A process for recycling waste automotive catalyst is provided to separate and refine the platinum group metals by mixing uniformly flux and reductant. CONSTITUTION: In a dry type precious metal smelting process extracting platinum group metals from pulverized waste automobile catalysts for purifying exhaust gas, the process for recovering the platinum group metals from the low temperature smelting process of the waste automobile catalysts by uniformly mixing flux and reductant comprises the steps of uniformly mixing and pulverizing the mixture after adding to a sample of a support for waste automobile catalysts 2 to 10 wt.% of wheat as a reductant, 2 to 10 wt.% of fluorite as a flux and 20 to 200 wt.% of copper as a scavenger in weight percentages in contradiction to the support for the waste automobile catalysts; and manufacturing the pulverized mixed materials into fine and uniformed powder particles having particle diameters corresponding to sieve sizes of 100 meshes or less.
