PURPOSE: A method for setting a tool length of a CNC milling machine and a record medium recording a program code thereof are provided to cut a materials to be cut while setting in the smallest a length of a tool machine in the CNC(Computer Numeric Control) milling machine. CONSTITUTION: A data with regard to tool, a model of a material to be cut and a work path is set(S10). The data includes an information regarding to a diameter and a blade height of the tool, a minimum height of a long chuck and a minimum height of an arbor. A cutting work is simulated by using the set date(S20). A collision boundary shape without generating of the collision between the tools is calculated by the simulation(S30). The collision boundary shape is indicated to a graph of two dimensions, wherein a horizontal axis indicates a diameter length, and a vertical axis indicates a height(S40). The length of the tools is set based on the collision boundary shape(S50).
