The metal [hexacyanomaltate hexanitrometallate] complex is a useful alkylene oxide polymerization catalyst. The metal may be any metal that forms a precipitate with the hexacyanometalate group and the hexanitrometallate group. These catalysts are made from less expensive raw materials than conventional zinc hexacyanocobaltate catalysts, and the induction unit is short and, in many cases, provides more suppressed heat generation.
