PURPOSE: A method for determining position of vibration sensor and diagnosing vibration of rotary machine is provided to prevent breakdown of rotary machine and perform an efficient maintenance by improving ability for determination on abnormality of rotary machine. CONSTITUTION: A method for determining position of vibration sensor comprises the steps of extracting time area data and frequency area data of the vibration signal at a normal state, and time area data and frequency area data of the vibration signal at an abnormal state; and obtaining speed data and acceleration data for time area data and frequency area data for the normal state and abnormal state, respectively, and utilizing the obtained data as input data for a self-organized map neural network.
