WEB-PAGE CONVERTER AND METHOD FOR MOBILE WEB CLIENTS USING SEMANTIC DATABASE

PURPOSE: A device and a method for converting a user web page using a semantic database are provided to convert the web pages provided from a web server to fit to a characteristic of a portable information device by using the semantic database and placing a medium between the portable information device and the web server. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises an HTML(HyperText Markup Language) analyzer(31), the semantic database(32), a middle format converter(33), a filter(34) and a rewriting device(35). The HTML analyzer analyzes an electronic document format of the web page by accepting the HTML document from the web server. The semantic database stores whether a part of the web document is important or not, and the specification of the portable information device. The middle format converter converts the web document based on the document format analysis information. The filter filters a part of contents of the web document converted into the expression method of the middle format in consideration of the weight information stored in the semantic database and the specification. The re-writing device rewrites the web document passing the filter and provides the rewritten web document to a portable HTTP client.
