PURPOSE: A method of coding and decoding a digital image using a watermarking technique is provided to apply a rule capable of detecting a blind watermarking to perform a digital image watermarking, thereby detecting the blind watermarking without having an original image. CONSTITUTION: Pixels of an original image are separated to 3 pixel sets by applying a defined grouping rule. A watermark image is generated according to a defined mapping rule. The obtained watermark image is supplied to a user. The user confirms pixel array characteristics of the received watermark image. A rule applied to the watermark image is deduced by using the pixel array characteristics. According to the deduced rule, an appropriate reproducing/copying operation is carried out.
