PURPOSE: A composition for diffusion in the air of an enclosure to be treated to combat the bacteria contained in the air is provided to combat bacteria contained in the air of the enclosure. CONSTITUTION: The composition for diffusion in the air of an enclosure to be treated to combat the bacteria contained in the air of the enclosure, wherein the composition comprises 2-phenylphenol and natural and/or synthetic thymol dissolved in a solvent comprising isopropyl alcohol, for example. The proportion by weight of 2-phenylphenol lies generally in the range about 0.05% to 1%, advantageously in the range about 0.1% to 0.3%, and is preferably equal to about 0.2%, and the proportion by weight of thymol lies generally in the range about 0.05% to 5%, advantageously in the range about 0.2% to 2%, and preferably in the range about 0.5% to 1%.
