PURPOSE: Provided is a food base for honey substitutes having flavor-releasing property and fluidity each comparable to natural equivalents. CONSTITUTION: A food base comprises (a) about 0.002 wt.% to about 2 wt.% strong sweetener, (b) about 0.1 wt.% to about 8 wt.% tackifier, (c) about 35 wt.% to 95 wt.% water, (d) about 2 wt.% to about 40 wt.% extender and the like, and has about 2,000 cp to about 20,000 cp viscosity.
