FIELD: manufacture of X-ray monochromators with preset characteristics. SUBSTANCE: method includes operations of selection of specimens of highly oriented graphite from material having mosaic scattering which lies below desired region of mosaic scattering; cold treatment of selected specimens for application of impression of surface texture sufficient for shifting of mosaic scattering of specimens to desired region. Textured surface is preferably impressed by pressing of specimens between metal matrixes, at least, one of which has knurling.
