Use of materials (A) associated with the human genomic insert of the yeast artificial chromosome (YAC) CEPH YAC145F7 or its derivative YAC145F7-neo, but excluding exons 9 and 10 of the adjacent FHIT gene, the FHIT protein, or their derivatives and specific antibodies where the specified YAC has tumor suppressive and cell-senescence-inducing activity, is new. (A) is: (a) a human nucleic acid (NA) (I), a related sequence from other species, or their homologs, or expressible cDNA; (b) proteins and polypeptides encoded by (I); (c) derived NA, peptide-NA, peptides, proteins and their derivatives or fragments; and (d) related antibodies, NA probes, antisense sequences and oligonucleotides for polymerase chain reaction.
