The device has an acceleration sensor (22,32) connected to an evaluation unit (23,33) and a connection (21,31) to the data bus (1). The evaluation unit can be set into an address configuration mode and is designed so that mechanical vibrations of the acceleration sensor can be detected in address configuration mode and the address of the controller (2,3) can be determined depending on the vibration characteristic of the mechanical vibrations.
