Deformed metallic composite material (8) is made by covering a foam core layer (14) above and below with a covering layer (13, 15); placing the material between a stamp (4) and a tool (5) of a press; closing press; plastically deforming the material with simultaneous heating so that core layer foams and forms an intimate connection with covering layers; and removing the product from press. Preferred Features: Plastic deformation is carried out by blowing air into a cavity (12) formed between the stamp and the tool. Heating is carried out at 300-700 or 300-500 deg C.
