Fish farming water effluent treated by coarse filtration and passage through reed bed channels for re-use

Treating effluent water bearing an organic pollutant and arising from fish aquaria or fish farming ponds, comprising removing coarse particles and impurities, is new. This water is then used to irrigate and fertilize a plant culture (11) devoid of humus, thereby cleaning the water which is then returned to the fish. An independent claim is also included for an assembly in which the first-stage water treatment is a biological process and in which, following the use of the water in a humus-free plant culture, the water is subject to further biological treatment before return to the fish. The assembly consists of a fish basin or aquarium (1) with a water pump and coarse filter (6) for the removal of coarse impurities, plant holders (7) and water pipes (2). The plants are established within greenhouse (5) water filter channels (7). The channels (7) have water inlets and water outlets and drain (10) only to the fish ponds.
