Method for diagnosis of carcinoma and/or for determining its differentiation stage comprises measuring the amount of insulin receptor substrate-1 (IRS-1; I) and/or insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor beta (IGF-IRbeta ; II) in a sample, at either protein or mRNA levels. The measured level is then correlated with the differentiation status. An independent claim is also included for a diagnostic kit containing antibodies directed against (I) and/or (II).
