Molded green body made from glass particles or foamed glass particles sintered to form a glass frit or bound using an adhesive has reinforcing layers (4, 6) embedded in the glass particle layer close to one surface of the body or in mortar layers (3, 5) which are applied to the surface of the body. An independent claim is also included for a process for the production of a molded green body . Preferred Features: A decorative layer (2) made from metal, glass, ceramic or natural or artificial stone is also provided. The reinforcing layer is formed as a fleece, knitted fabric or woven fabric.
