The system has a rotatable drive element (2) for coupling to an external drive device, a rotatable driven element (3) for rotation in one or another opposite direction, a braking body (4,5) and an interacting brake element (7) coupled to the drive and/or driven element and movable into braking and non-braking positions. The brake element has at least one braking surface (21) that is arranged with at least some regions with surface normals inclined to the axes of rotation of the drive and/or driven elements at other than 90 degrees and/or to the coupling movement direction at other than 0 degrees.
