Method for signal evaluation of an opto-electronic path or angle measurement device with light source and opto- electronic transducer sensor array arranged on either side of a moving code disk with one or more digital traces. To evaluate the signal amplitude of a code trace, the corresponding transducer determines the brightness difference between a relatively bright code trace signal and a relatively dark none-code signal. From the difference it can be determined if the coding illuminates a transducer or not.
