The system has a fuel tank (2), a priming pump (6) and a high pressure pump (8) connected by a fuel feed line (4), a feed (24) for the pump connected to the fuel feed line, a first choke (26) for regulating a volumetric fuel flow for flushing the high pressure pump and a second choke (30) for venting the system. Both chokes are connected in the pump feed; the second is designed to pass a volumetric fuel flow at a rate of 5-100 ml per minute.
