A resin coating(9) is applied as a paste or fluid onto surfaces(2) of a fixed object(1). Material particles(8) are then accelerated towards the coating and penetrate the latter while it is still in a non-hardened state. When the coating is hardened the particles remain embedded in the surface. An Independent claim is made for one form of the process equipment comprising a spray pistol(4) or similar hand guided equipment.
