Traffic information monitoring method for providing traffic guidance information for vehicle drivers uses evaluation of data collected by cameras placed in circulating vehicles

The traffic information monitoring method has information generated by a network of cameras placed within vehicles (1,2,3) travelling along different traffic routes, the camera data transmitted to a central receiver (10) upon each vehicle passing a stationary roadside transmitter (x1,x2,..) and evaluated for providing an overall view of the traffic situation. The vehicles within a given area can be linked by a mobile radio network for information exchange between them. An Independent claim for a traffic information monitoring device for providing traffic guidance information for vehicles is also included.
