An electronic memory comprises a main memory (H) and a controller (C) which controls both the main memory and a write memory (S) and several read memories (L) so that the sum of the products of the word widths and maximum data rates for the read and write memories is less than that for the main memory. An electronic memory comprises a main memory (H) of word width (B) controlled by a controller (C) of maximum data rate (F). The controller controls a write memory (S) having output word width r and maximum data rate w and several read memories (L) of word width b and data rate f such that the sum of the products w.r plus all b.f products is less than B.F.
