Cutting part comprises a substrate and a coating provided on the cutting and/or free surface of the cutting part. The coating is applied via an intermediate layer which is resistant to the chemical solvent to remove the coating. Preferred Features: The intermediate layer is made from tungsten carbide, or from chromium nitride, chromium carbide or aluminum oxide. The intermediate layer is thinner than the coating. The coating is made from a hard material such as titanium carbide, titanium nitride, titanium carbonitride, trititanium aluminum nitride and/or aluminum oxide. The intermediate layer is applied by CVD or PVD.
