Method for aligning a light beam in an optical system in which the light beam is coupled into the optical alignment system; the resulting coupled beam is deflected towards at least two photodetectors (10, 22) each at different distances from the beam coupling position (3); calculation of the difference between actual and design position of the coupled beam and adjustment of an optical element to bring the coupled beam into its design position.
