Method for aligning a light beam in an optical system in which the light beam is coupled into the optical alignment system; the resulting coupled beam is deflected towards at least two photodetectors (10, 22) each at different distances from the beam coupling position (3); calculation of the difference between actual and design position of the coupled beam and adjustment of an optical element to bring the coupled beam into its design position. An Independent claim is made for a device for alignment of a light beam in an optical system.
