The device is for laying Y-shaped track sleepers on a ballast track bed. The sleepers are of a material containing iron and are laid horizontally turned through 180 degrees in relation to each other. The laying device contains a transfer platform (3) receiving the sleepers (4) from conveying devices (2) bringing them forward from a storage unit. The platform contains positioning equipment for placing the sleepers in a track longitudinal direction. With the transfer platform functions equipment (8) which positions the sleepers in the track transversal direction. A grip device (6) is movably located, with a first end position for receiving a sleeper from the transfer platform and a second end position for placing the sleeper on the ballast bed (11) in the track transversal direction at a defined distance from the previously laid sleeper.
