The frame spread for a window or door has at least one insulating layer or at least one insulating core (6) and at least one stiffening layer (3,4). The stiffening layers have devices for connecting the frame spread (1) with a window or door frame (2). The at least one insulating core is provided with at least one stiffening layer on both sides. The insulating core can be of EPS or PUR foam, provided on both sides with a stiffening layer, e.g. of recycled polyurethane. A cover layer (7,8) forming the outer surface and made of polyvinylchloride is fitted on each of the stiffening layers.
