Automobile rear lamp has metal screw bolt received in screw seat of plastics lamp housing and fitting through opening in automobile bodywork

The rear lamp has a plastics housing (10) fitted with a lamp cover (18) and having a number of fixing elements for securing it to the bodywork (16) of the automobile, at least one of which is provided by a metal screw bolt (12) with a radial flange sandwiched between a screw seat into which the screw bolt is fitted and the bodywork. The rear section of the screw bolt fits through an opening in the bodywork and receives a screw nut and the upper part of the threaded bore in the screw seat is widened for reception of part of the radial flange by material deformation. An Independent claim for a method for fitting a rear lamp in an automobile is also included.
