An apparatus for intermittent gasification of fermenting organic waste in a container comprises a tank (8) whose pressure chamber (9) is fitted with a gas inlet (10) and outlet (11), is new. The cross-section of the outlet is at least six times that of the inlet and it is connected to the pressure chamber via a valve (14) when the pressure inside it reaches a predetermined value. A second connector (16) which is separate from the valve is positioned outside the pressure chamber, but activated by the pressure in it.
