The silencer (10) has an elongated cylindrical housing (11) closed up to an inlet opening (15) at a front side (12) and an outlet opening (17) at an opposite front side (13). The inlet opening is connected with the outlet opening via a linear air guiding channel (20), and a sound damping unit (19) is arranged between the air guiding channel and a wall of the housing. A cross-section area of the air guiding channel corresponds to 10 times of a cross-section area of the inlet opening. The outlet opening is connected with an air exhausting line.
