The dental workpiece is finished by abrasive blasting in the work space of a cabinet having a viewing window and two apertures through which it is visually and manually accessible. Fixed in the work space is an abrasive blasting nozzle which utilizes the injection effect to draw abrasive powder from a collecting chamber in the lower part of the cabinet. In the nozzle the abrasive powder enters a jet of compressed air and the mixture is blasted onto the work. The suction pipe leading to the injector-nozzle terminates at the bottom end in a vertical tube (112) transversely passing through the collecting chamber outlet channel (107). Abrasive powder is drawn into the suction pipe through a slot (123) in the pipe. Additional air is drawn in through the open end (119) of the pipe and mixes with the powder as it flows into the suction pipe (125).
