The invention comprises an oxidative destruction process in supercritical conditions for organic residues such as oils, solvents and scintillation fluids used in partical counters, which are difficult to decompose. Process for the destruction of organic materials, in which a reaction mixture is prepared comprising the organic product and an aqueous solution of nitric acid or hydrogen peroxide. The mixture is heated to temperature and pressure levels at least equal to the critical values for the mixture and for a sufficient time to destroy the organic material. An Independent claim is also included for the installation to effect the process.
