Novel preparations (A) contain an extract (I) of the plant Pistia stratiotes (water lettuce; Araceae (arum) family). An Independent claim is included for the preparation of (I), by extracting Pistia stratiotes with at least one solvent selected from distilled or non-distilled water, lower alcohols, esters, ethers, hydrocarbons, ketones or halohydrocarbons.
